Good news for Nokia fans: the long-awaited Symbian Anna update has finally landed for existing Symbian^3 – injecting a clutch of new features to the company's ageing Symbian lineup.
The update is available now for Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 users, and brings the quartet into line with the E6 and X7, which were launched a couple of months ago with the Anna update already on board.
It's just about bang on schedule too, as Nokia had promised the update for sometime in August, though many Nokia users have expressed frustration at having to wait that long for the update in the first place.
Still, it gives Nokia's Symbian phones a much needed spring-clean to try and maintain at least some appeal in the run-up to the first Windows Phone-powered Nokias appearing in the next few months.
The update introduces a new-look interface with more rounded icons, as well as a portrait-mode on-screen keyboard, a faster web browser and various other tweaks.
Nokia says the update is available via the Ovi Suite desktop software, and is available right now.
