Nokia rewrites history after developer vid blunder

Nokia rewrites history after developer vid blunderWe all got a little bit excited through the week when a Nokia developer video appeared to give some airtime to the yet-to-be-released Nokia 900.

But watch the same video today and you'll be forgiven for wondering if it was all just a dream, as Nokia has airbrushed the 900 out of existence and replaced it in the clip with the Nokia 800.

The irony is that the 900's moment in the spotlight might have gone largely unnoticed and undocumented had it not been for Nokia's own reaction to the situation. It's hardly am earth-shattering expose, after all – just a front view of the device confirming little more than a curved bottom edge.

But Nokia made sure everyone suddenly started paying attention by hastily pulling the clip altogether, and has now replaced it with a version starring the Nokia 800 – as if nothing had ever happened.

Of course, thanks to the wonders of the web it's not quite that easy, and you can check out the clip – in both old and new flavours – over at the Dutch WPHome site.

Nokia's latest phones are quite impressive, not sure about winmo though so still undecided as my contract's up next month(but they are very difficult to get hold of here in Korea)

Pretty shocking to pull an advert when they must have known the attention it would receive. It smacks of a ploy. How dare you Nokia!
It's more of a shame because they're building a new reputation for product appearance and desirability which has escaped them for a generation of phones. Snippets like this are needed to catapult them back to the top or anywhere near.
