Nokia tablet patent revealed

Nokia tablet patent revealedEveryone and their gran is releasing a bloody tablet this year, with Sony Ericsson and Nokia being perhaps the most notable exceptions.

However, it seems that the Finns do – or perhaps more likely did – have grand plans for a tablet of their own.

Concept drawings for a Nokia tablet have surfaced, courtesy of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The drawings show the tablet from various angles, and it looks distinctly N8-like.

A headphone jack and a number of ports are visible, but otherwise there’s little to go on in terms of specs. We don’t know, for example, how big the screen is.

The patent was initially submitted in May 2010, and obviously a lot has changed since then. Presumably the tablet would’ve featured Symbian or MeeGo in some form, but we reckon the idea has probably been canned.
