What's the best note-taking app for Android?

What's the best note-taking app for Android? I've been recommended Evernote - is that the best?

Guess. it depends on what you're up to. Some are very feature rich - maybe too rich? Do you need the ability to attach photos, videos, GPS location, voice recordings and stool samples? Or do you just want a fast convenient app to jot down some notes?
There are some bloat monsters. Best try out a few and read some reviews. I've never used Evernote because I avoid cloud services and those seem to be Evernote's main selling point.

I moved from Catch.com to Springpad.com when Catch closed down. Mainly because Springpad offered easy migration of my existing Catch.com notes. The app is still a bit behind where Catch's app was when they closed down, however.
