I scribbled some words about the rumoured Nubia Z5 mini a few weeks ago, but at that time there was nary a whisper on specs and we cynically feared another 4.3in yawn-a-thon (no offence, Samsung Galaxy S4 mini).
Turns out we were wrong, and we’re not afraid to admit it. The now-official Nubia Z5 mini actually sounds pretty freakin’ good.
Starting with the Nubia Z5 mini’s display, it weighs in at 4.7in, which is only 0.3in smaller than the full-sized Nubia Z5 announced at the end of 2012.
In the CPU department, we’ve got a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor paired with a meaty 2GB of RAM.
As for camera action, the Nubia Z5 mini has a 13MP rear camera, and – even better than its big broski – a 5MP front shooter. It's increasingly common to find multi-megapixel front cameras over in China.
Other Nubia Z5 mini specs include 16GB internal storage with a microSD slot welcoming a further 32GB, and a presumably capable 2,300mAh battery. It’ll also come in a range of colours, including white, pink, blue and yellow on the rear.
The only potential turn-off is the 720p resolution on the 4.7in display, but otherwise it sounds pretty great. And heck, it’s selling for CNY 1,888 which equates to roughly £200.
