O2 bags Huawei Ascend W1 exclusivity, yours from March 7, £120 on PAYGWe’ve been jawing about the Windows Phone 8-powered Huawei Ascend W1 for what feels like forever.  Indeed, it was September last year when the name first materialised.

Fast-forward six months, and O2 will exclusively sell the Huawei Ascend W1 in the United Kingdoms – from March 7. That’s, like, a week tomorrow.

Interested? You’ll be able to grab the Huawei Ascend W1 on O2 PAYG for £119.99 (in store and online), while the phone is available for free on contracts starting at £13.50PM.

As for Huawei Ascend W1 colours, it’ll initially land in Electric Blue, followed by an Electric Pink model on March 18.

Huawei Ascend W1 specs include a 4in IPS display (480 x 800), 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 1,950mAh battery, 5MP rear camera, and 4GB internal storage – augmentable via microSD.

Those specs put the Huawei Ascend W1 roughly head-to-head with the Nokia Lumia 620, which is currently going for £179.99 on O2 PAYG (has been as low as £119.99). Actually, it appears to be sold out at the mo. Interesting.

With the Nokia Lumia 520 on the way too, and Nokia promising to go even cheaper, the budget Windows Phone 8 battle is really heating up - and we ain’t complainin’.

620 was admittedly rather briefly at this price too on o2.

So bigger screen, faster processor, smaller internal memory is an issue and likely a poorer camera but much bigger battery. Sounds decent option.

Get a blue permanent marker and this will make a perfect HTC 8S stunt double

Yeah it is even more similar to that. Though bit weightier, front camera in it's favour and again the larger battery and faster processor. Rather better price tag than the 8s too..

Oh and specs elsewhere say it includes your fave innovation nfc ;)

Even on wp8 I think 4gb storage is a bit lacking in elbow room though

4gig is not enough. Not with the "other" storage issue that WP8 has.

Explain?

If I check the storage usage on my 920 there is the usual stuff there. (Apps, videos, photos, music).
However there is also something else that just says "Other". Microsoft haven't said what this is for. On my phone its size varies between 1.5gig and 3.42gig (which it currently is).
Its most likely the WP8 equivalent of the Windows Swapfile.

Was thinking yeah there is something just as vague on my android, "Misc." but then pressed on it and it lists what's in there....

If the ms one is a swapfile wouldn't it need more space with less ram if so that really doesn't bode well for the low end ones.
