O2 lands 64GB Nokia Lumia 1020 exclusive: comes with benefits

O2 lands 64GB Nokia Lumia 1020 exclusive: comes with benefitsApple's new iPhone 5c isn't the only colourful smartphone that's just gone up for pre-order. Nokia's latest high-powered PureView cameraphone, the Lumia 1020, is also yours to secure in an accessory-laden package exclusive to O2.

How time flies. The Lumia 1020 was announced all of two months ago now, setting a new high water mark for camera phones we've been dying to try out in the flesh ever since.

Well sadly the Lumia 1020 isn't quite available yet – you'll have to wait until September 25 for that – but in the meantime O2 has just detailed an interesting exclusive that raises the photo-friendly mobile snapper to a whole new level.

The network has bagged exclusive rights to the 64GB version of the Lumia 1020, and as of yesterday you can pre-order it directly in yellow or black.

But that's not all you get: O2 is throwing in a free accessory bundle to help you get the most out of all 41 megapixels underneath your trigger finger, including a wireless charging plate and cover, camera grip and a tri-pod.

And the cost? Well, if you want to get the pain over with in one go you're looking at paying a one-off £639.99 for your slice of premium Pureview action. That's via O2 Refresh, so it just covers the phone itself – monthly tariffs start at £12 per month on 3G and £22 per month on 4G.

Choose a traditional pay-monthly contract and you're talking a minimum outlay of £259 up front on a £27pm deal over 24 months that only gives you 300 minutes and 500MB of data a month alongside unlimited texts.

Nokia seemt o be being particularly dozy at the moment, why whip up such a social media storm with what was clearly a suggestion the 1020 would be launched today to then throw it all back in the customers faces by instead announcing they have to wait almost 2 more weeks?

Its almost like they want to annoy people

Guess they're imitating/flattering Apple?! :p
That is a lot of money...
I reckon 20-25% off by christmas.

As with most Lumia devices, the price will plummet.

That was O2's last chance to keep me as a customer (I currently have a Lumia 920 on their text and web prepay tariff). I'm now off to 3 prepay with unlimited internet for £15 a month. It would be cheaper to buy this SIM free and go to 3 prepay than to pay what O2 are expecting on a contract.

O2 Ireland - the Lumia 925 on prepay went from €499 to €429 in a matter of weeks

You can get the 520 in the UK for about £60 I believe. £60 for a full blown, Nokia branded smartphone.

Yep, Three are becoming a more and more appealing choice.
