When is Ofcom enforcing 12 month contract options?

I notice 12 month contracts still don't seem to be mandatory.

All companies have to do is offer a 12 month deal. and all companies do that.

True, nothing says their 12 month contracts can't be an absolute rip off and crap value for money, they simply have to offer one.

Dont know when the law is coming into place but I recommend anyone who is after a particular phone on a 12 month contract to wait six months till after it comes out. The ridculous deal (e.g. 50 mins, 100 txts, £35 a month + £300) usually disappears and you get something more VFM.
