Can't open iTunes on iPhone 5

I can't open iTunes on my iPhone 5. It flashes up quickly and disappears.
Seen a few suggestions online (swipe up to close, Reset Network Settings) but still no joy. any ideas?

iGuy.... iGuy.... iGuy....

WHAT OS?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Anyhoo.... Back up your phone. Turn it off. Turn it on. Factory reset. Turn it off and leave it off for 10 minutes. Turn it on and restore from iTunes (on your PC).
PS: The network settings have nothing to do with it. iTunes app would still open AND stay open. It'd just give you the hint that you have no internet connection. What you describe
screams mesed up filesystem. Can happen during and after a firmware update. Heck, it can happen. Fullstop.

BEFORE the full reset try Turning it off and just wait a few minutes.

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago (iOS 7).

The solution for me was going in through the Music app and choosing Compilations. Assuming you don't have any compilations, you'll see the message: "No Content. You can download music from the iTunes Store" with a link to the Store. Tap it and you're in.

Well, hopefully! :) Worked for me.

Ah, yeah... Video app works, too.

Unrelated: anyone updated a Mac to Mavericks and QuickLook's f*cked? (images "Quicklooked" in Finder are just white... I tried Disk Repair etc etc.... No joy.
