This week looks set to be a busy one over in China. We’ve already written this morning about the imminent Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, which is almost certainly launching on Thursday.
Not to be outdone, Oppo is tipped to be prepping its Oppo R1C for launch on Wednesday, the headline feature being a sapphire glass panel on the ear.
Oppo has confirmed it’s launching something on Wednesday, and GizmoChina credits Chinese-language MyDrivers when it says it’s the Oppo R1C.
Rumoured Oppo R1C specs include a 5in 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB expandable storage (the microSD slot welcomes up to 128GB), a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter, and 4G connectivity.
Those specs make for pretty familiar midrange reading (it’s not too far removed from Xiaomi’s Redmi Note, just smaller), but again it’s the sapphire glass rear that makes the Oppo R1C stand out. It certainly looks the part in the multitude of leaked pictures; we’re just hoping it doesn’t explode into a million pieces if/when dropped.
