As promised, Oppo held a smartphone launch event this Wednesday morning (China time, while we were sleeping), and as expected, it was the Oppo R1C making its official debut.
The Oppo R1C arrives largely as expected, and at the equivalent of £265, that’s definitely a good thing.
Diving into Oppo R1C specs, we have a 5in 720p display, 64-bit 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB expandable storage (the microSD slot is happy up to 128GB), 13MP rear Sony camera, 5MP front “selfie” camera, 2,420mAh battery, and Color OS 2.0.1 on top of KitKat Android 4.4.
Other Oppo R1C features include 4G connectivity, dual SIM support, and last but not least: a sapphire glass rear panel. Lookin’ good.
Priced at 2,499 Chinese Yuan, that’s the equivalent of around £265 in our money. Not too shabby.
It’s hella busy over in China this week. The high-end Oppo U3 is expected any minute now, and tomorrow, Xiaomi – “China’s Apple” – is tipped to lift the lid on the Redmi Note 2, and possibly the Mi5.
