Oppo R809T: not the world’s thinnest smartphone after all

Oppo R809T: not the world’s thinnest smartphone after allA couple of weeks ago, Martinez issued an urgent world’s thinnest smartphone alert, relaying news of the incoming 6.13mm Oppo R809T.

Well, the Chinese manufacturer has made its latest and greatest official, but the smartphone appears to have been hitting the pies of late. At the official Oppo R809T weigh-in, it measured 6.93mm.

The 6.45mm Alcatel One Touch Idol can breathe a sigh of relief, as it holds onto the world’s thinnest smartphone crown for now. It also proudly claims world's stupidest smartphone name.

As such, there’s nothing hugely impressive about the Oppo R809T, and of course the chances of seeing it in the UK are next to none.

For the record, Oppo R809T specs include a 4.7in 720p display, quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz (thought to be of the MediaTek variety) and 1GB of RAM.

Oppo R809T cameras come in at 2MP front and 8MP rear, and OS duties are assigned to Jelly Bean (Android 4.2).

There’s no official Oppo R809T release date just yet, but being a big fatty at 6.93mm, I dare say this is the last time we’ll mention the phone on our hallowed pages.

Goodnight, Oppo R809T. And ease off the pies.
