Can you overcharge a mobile phone?

What’s the best way to charge your phone to get the best battery life? Is it bad to plug it in every night, regardless of how much juice is left?

Mobot's very own Lewis >how much juice< Curdie posted a guide to good battery etiquette right here.
In a nutshell: no, you cannot overcharge your phone. But leaving it connected to the socket does waste energy (though some devices now ship with smart chargers, that, basically, disconnect once the phone's battery is full.
Should you charge every night or not? It won't do much harm. Consider that most phones these days charge via USB - every time you connect your phone to the PC/Mac to sync with iTunes or Zune it gets charged during the duration of the sync.
