Pair of new HTC phones leaked: the HTC Rider and HTC Kingdom

Pair of new HTC phones leaked: the HTC Rider and HTC KingdomWhen HTC launched the 3D-friendly Evo 3D over in the States at the end of March, we said that while we knew we wouldn't be getting the Evo 3D itself here in the UK, we were still hopeful of seeing 3D in some form before too long.

And this blurry pic could be the handset in question. It's apparently called the HTC Rider, and is it;s being tipped to arrive in the UK with 3D on board.

The pic of the Rider arrives courtesy of HTC-themed blog 911 SnipEr, though we're not altogether sure what the basis is for claiming the handset in question is 3D-capable.

It certainly looks fairly standard HTC fare, echoing the looks of both the Desire family, and the Evo 3D itself.

The site also reveals another HTC handset supposedly in the pipelines – the HTC Kingdom. This one has a qHD screen resolution, though otherwise looks remarkably similar to the Rider.

This one is pure rumour at this stage, without a sniff of any kind of spec list or timeframe for launch. But if one of these phones does have 3D on board, we're certainly looking forward to giving it the once over.

4" qHD display please HTC! Also, I hope the next version of Android/ HTC Sense has support for more than a 4x4 grid per homescreen, with these higher-res, large screens the gaps between the icons look ridiculous.

Good points, blizzard.

Thanks, I just find it weird that no-one has noticed that these large screens could really work well as a 4x5 layout. Maybe if Apple does it, everyone will follow suit (one of the good things about Apple products). :p

Yes, remember HTC's HD2 with those positively gigantic icons?
Cookie's hometab showed how you could comfortably turn that to 5x5 and even 5x6... And let us hide the icon titles, please!

Indeed. I know there are some Android apps which can do this (like LauncherPro), but it does mean sacrificing most of HTC Sense, which IMO is the best looking Android skin. I think it would be a wise move if Google made it so 4.3" screens defaulted as a 5x5, 3.7 - 4.2" screens as a 4x5 and smaller screens have the 4x4 and as you said, give the option to remove labels.
