It’s difficult to describe Paper Toss in a manner that does it justice. Unfortunately for me, that’s exactly what I have to do right now. Crap.
In Paper Toss, you throw crumpled up pieces of paper at a bin. But wait! There’s more to it than that, namely a hazard in the form of a desktop fan. The fan blows at varying speeds, so you have to consider the current of air before launching the paper. Sounds brilliant, huh?
I wonder if the developers, Backflip, can make it sound any more interesting. Let’s see. “This game is oddly satisfying… much like tossing a real ball of crumpled paper into a metal trash basket. So realistic, you will think you are stuck in an office killing time.” Erm…
Ok, you might not feel like you’re “stuck in an office” – surely that’s a bad thing, Backflip? – but Paper Toss is “oddly satisfying”. Particularly when the fan is blowing at high speed, and you watch your crumpled piece of paper slowly curve towards the bin, hitting off the rim before landing inside. Man, I wish I were playing it right now.
Admittedly there’s not much to Paper Toss, but Backflip does its best to keep things interesting. There are three different difficulty settings, and six different locations, however it doesn’t really matter where you play - the bloody fan follows you everywhere. Oh, unless you’re in the alleyway, in which case it seems to be good old wind (of the weather kind) threatening to blow your paper off course.
The only vague goal in Paper Toss is to rack up as many consecutive successful tosses as possible. There’s no Game Over screen, so you simply keep going until you quit out. As such, it’s all too easy to become mesmerised and find yourself tossing paper after paper after paper…
Paper Toss is completely free. You can pay 59p to get the ad-free version, but I wouldn’t bother.
