Third party iPhone chargers, safe?

Are third party iPhone chargers potentially dangerous? Like could they start a fire or melt your iPhone?

As long as they feature the Made for iPhone logo and they're from reputable third-party manufacturers then you know that they're authorised and safe. Cheapo Chinese chargers that sell for pennies on eBay aren't worth risking your life over.

That being said I'm sure many people don't have any issues with unbranded third-party chargers, but there will always be that one time when something goes wrong. The choice is yours.

IPhone charger is 5W = 5V * 1AMP, so you should be buying a charger that is at least rated for 5W. Lower output charger would also work, but will charge iPhone slower.
If you buy a higher rated charger, say 10W = 5V * 2AMP iPhone will charge faster.

As TJ mentioned, it's better to go after brand name (Belkin, Anker, etc.). I'm not sure about "Made for iPhone" logo as my iPhone charges faster using Samsung 10W charger, than original 5W iPhone charger.
iPad charger from brand name would work fine also - they are usually rated for 12W.
