How much should I pay for the HTC Desire Z?

I can only see the HTC Desire Z on PAYG or SIM free. It seems quite expensive. How much do you think I should pay?

I never buy phones brand new (unless its a sub-£100 payg phone).
I tend to take out a contract for the latest phone (for free) on a £35+ a month contract. Then at the 50% stage of the contract, month, by month wittle the tarrif down to as low as possible, then either terminate the contract and pay the remaining balance or see the contract through and renew (if the offer is good) are terminate.

This of course only works under certain conditions, e.g. that you take out the contract and put the sim into an old or spare phone. Then use the new phone for your current contract sim.

Example:
I currently have a HTC Desire Z which I took out on an Orange contract (24 months, £25 a month, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 1gb data. Gave the sim to my wife and she uses it in her Orange SF). I then put my current O2 sim into the HTC and i'm done. Works for both of us and when my O2 contract is up I can either renew with the latest phone or terminate and get a better deal elsewhere.

£400 on Amazon, but right now Expansys have an offer with free shipping £370 http://www.expansys.com/htc-desire-z-203872/

Thanks, it's probably a bit too much, might opt for another handset

Nice, but I really like HTC as a brand so not sure now!

I'm sure with the host of new HTC devices out soon, the Desire Z will come down in price. Also, keep an eye on the Expansys "B-stock" sections. They are phones that were returned ...oftten they have good offers, and they still have warranty.
