When I was a young lad, we used to fork out hundreds of pounds for mobile phones. Now you can pick them up for a penny. They literally could not be any cheaper.
There are two different handsets available at 1p, namely the Nokia 1800 and LG GS101. The former comes with not only an FM radio, but also a flashlight; take that iPhone! Amusingly, OneStopPhoneShop describes the LG GS101 as ‘affordable’. No arguments here. Either phone would be perfect for, say, a technically clueless parent who only needs to send the odd text or make an occasional phonecall. For the more affluent consumer, there’s also the Alcatel OT-209 Silver at 19p. It boasts a large keypad, ideal for mobile novices. With all three phones, you’ll have to purchase £10 of airtime credit (Vodafone for the Nokia 1800; Orange for the LG GS101 and Alcatel OT-209).
