looking for a phone budget of £200 sim free for 20 yr old son. was thinking galaxy ace is that too out of date?

You can do a lot better than a Galaxy Ace for £200 (or have a lot of change if you do get an Ace, either way works).

After tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick up a Galaxy Nexus for sub-£200.

Sony xperia j looks good to me £149 on three payg gets good reviews for a budget android phone.

Xperia J costs rather a lot for that spec I'd say. Isn't that singe core? Yeah rather similar spec to the g300 in fact. Though I suspect the camera is better and JB looks likely to be sooner on it. If aiming around £200 only single core I'd look at would be the intel one.

If it's for christmas rather than a more imminent birthday or something else, I'd take a look (or ask again)in a fortnight and see where the prices have settled at.
