Can a phone be charged for TOO long?

I accidentally left my phone at home the other day when I went to work, and when I got back realised it'd been on charge for almost 24 hours! Is that a bad thing? Could any damage be done?

Id say pondlifes answer was nitrogen oxide and thus has nothing to do with the maths question I was answering... ;)

That would have been Nobelium not Nitrogen Oxide ;)
