Which phone? Nexus or Note?

Basically I have the choice, Nexus on a 12 month deal (£36 ppm) or Note on an 18 month (£30 ppm), roughly the same tariff but while I prefer the Notes hardware, the Nexus will be up for upgrade next Xmas and worth a few bob more.....

Been using a Samsung Galaxy Note for a couple of days last week.
It's a great, ahem, thing. But as a "phone" it really is too big.
It's almost impossible to dial a phone number with one hand - not to mention writing an sms etc... it's 2-handed all the way. Pressing the OFF/screen-off key, means, because of the huge size, you invariably end up pushing the volume button etc etc...
It's great for browsing 'on the go'; stunning to show off your pics or watch a video. For phone use? naah

Do you mean the Nexus S or the Galaxy Nexus?

Galaxy Nexus as it's still a phone (Note is waaay too big).
Galaxy Nexus as it's 12 month contract. I think you will get fed up with either one after a year.

I'd still go for Galaxy Note. Had mine a week now and love it. Yes those things you said are annoying however the beautiful screen size and general speed of the phone makes anyone I show salivate within seconds.

Out of the two, I'd say you'd get fed up of the Nexus after a year as it's just another typical phone, no real difference from any other. With the Gnote you have a multimedia machine within your palms (and it's a beast of a machine too) That's the whole point of these phones anyway! If you want a phone that is a pure joy to watch films on, take beautiful photos with, watch and create hi-def videos, play apps and games in high-res on a stunning massive screen, read E-Books in luxury at home, abroad or when you travel(saves you buying a Kindle too) browse the Web, Facebook, Youtube etc in luxury, use Skype to talk to family or friends on a massive screen with a dual camera then go get a Gnote.

But if you don't want all the above then go for Nexus.

I think the better question is, where on earth can you get those phones for those prices?

what has sonya owens got to do with anything

JanSt / MOD  Dec. 13, 2011 at 16:32

@galaxystar - I do agree with re. to the things the Note offers, but I still don't think it's a great choice for ppl who can only afford one phone at a time - and are used to quickly type on the go...

But again: you're right - the screen's stunning, and it's fast and - the one I used - bugfree. It's faster than the SGS2 I had.
