Phone pranks

What can I do with someone's iPhone if I know the password?
Like silly apps to install? Something that can be timed to go off and make him think WTF?! Yes I am immature :p

You need a life :p
Also, you shouldn't mess with someone else's private property.

Fall foul of the Computer Misuse Act 1990? I don't think it'd be hard to make people believe that smartphones are a type of computer, especially since "computer" was never defined in the 1990 Act for the very reason that new technology could (and has) outdated what would have been described as a computer back in 1989/1990 when the Act was being drafted.

If someone installed "silly apps", which could contain all sorts of malware, onto my phone, I'd be far from amused.

Have to agree. I'm all for pranks and hoaxes, but you gotta think...

Yeah, risking someone's personal data isn't really a laughing matter. Maybe it's because I use my phone for work that I take such a dim view on such behaviour, I don't know...

My problem with phone and computer pranks is that, occasionally, one needs the device. Relies on it. Urgently so... And they can be annoying enough without hoaxy input.

What's wrong with sticking a kick-me sign to your friend's back?!

True. If I needed my phone in an emergency (or for anything to do with work) only to find a rogue app someone had installed for a laugh had drained my battery, I'd be severely p*ssed off. If it was a colleague, I think the boss would take an even dimmer view than I would and finding a decent job at the moment is bloody hard, apparently.

I can just imagine the OP in serious thought right now thinking through the consequences laid out in your posts above....

Every suggestion I can think of has the potential to get me banned. So I'll just back out of this thread now before I type something I shouldn't about girls and cups and wallpaper.

You're safe as long as you don't suggest anything illegal haha :p.

You could always phrase it as a what-not-to-do ;)
