Phone stolen under contract - can you get out of the contract?

If your phone is stolen while under contract will the network (I'm on Orange) let you out of the contract if you provide a copy of the police report?

No.

The phone is a free gift. (kind of)
The contract is for the air time (mins/texts/data) so you can't cancel the contract.

If you had insurance you can make a claim and get a new phone. Otherwise you have to buy/use an old phone.

I'm convinced basic contract law would be a far more useful thing to teach in schools than drama, art, RE etc...

Anyhow, Ahmad's correct, the phone being stolen doesn't constitute a breach of contract on the part of Orange, therefore you have no right to have the contract voided or to claim damages.
