Are phones on Tesco Mobile (like the Nokia Lumia 920 and Moto G) usually locked to the network? If so, will Tesco unlock them for a price?

Yep, they are usually locked to Tesco.
Don't know about Tesco unlocking them, but the MotoG can be unlocked for less than 3 quid from a supplier on eBay. Can't vouch for the 920. Seems to be a problem all round

Like mrew42 said Moto G can be unlocked with a cheap code from eBay. Lumia however would have to be unlocked from Tesco themselves. I believe it's free if you've been with them 12 Months, if not then a £20 fee. It's in their Terms & Conditions, they call it 'unlatching'.

Yes, phones from Tesco Mobile are usually locked. As mentioned above, some phones can be unlocked via 3rd parties for very little money, whereas others will need to be unlocked by Tesco Mobile themselves in return for either 12 months of your life or £20 of your hard earned cash.
