Play Store glitch? "Unable to purchase"

Okay... been toying with a Note 2 for a week, and I need to make an in-app purchase to SIM-unlock the b*gger. Problem is: for the past 3 days I have been unable to purchase anything in the Play Store. I can download old purchases and free apps, but every attempt to buy a new app, leads to an error:

"Purchase not available at this time. Please try again later. You may receive an email to verify your account"....

- I never receive said 'verification email'
- the Credit Card linked to the account is fine
- I'm logged into gmail mail and g-talk
- data connection is okay
etc etc...

It seems at each attempt to buy an app, the price is taken of of the credit card and then refunded within seconds.

Google support have been shtum...

Any tips?
I tried a different sim etc...
I guess I could try another Google account, but I find having one is bad enough :p

well... thanks for nothing mobatties... sorted by using a different gmail account. Still don't know what the glitch is about, though.

Was up a ladder peeling wallpaper at the time, would have suggested trying the web site.
Not had that problem though and did buy something at weekend gta3 :)

yes, same phone, same SIM.
website playstore was no-go because it was an in-app purchase. Galaxsim Unlock is in Play Store, but the Pro bit you need for the actual unlocking has to be bought from within the app via Play Store. you do not find "Galaxsim Unlock Pro" when searching the store.

Ah, now that I have had problems with now you mention it is an in app purchase. Didn't think about it as it wasn't a big deal that I couldn't get gold in Dead Trigger (was largely just to give them money as got the app once it went free and think it's worth something)
Did you have to reinstall the app with the new account or just change Play default account?

Just changed the default account for the pay bit. Bizarre really. I still cannot buy apps with my old account - 5 days now!

Yes, Until 5 days ago I had no problems. And judging by the Play Store's support pages, the error is not unheard off - it appears in the FAQ. Just odd that it's been going on for 5 days. Like...they don't care if I'm buying apps.

Oh never read the faq, guess I should as changing account makes no difference with my problem.

Big companies do get odd like that..
