PlayStation phone coming 1 April

PlayStation phone coming 1 AprilFollowing on from its recent tweet about an exclusive white version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, O2 has announced the release date for the PlayStation Phone. You can grab yourself some smartphone/gaming hybrid action from 1 April.

No prices at this early stage, but we know the Xperia Play will run Android 2.3, with a 4in touchscreen and 5MP camera. The slide-out gamepad has a D-pad and dual analogue controls.

It’ll ship with six games, including a PSOne classic, and a further 50 titles will be available at launch. The phone has the backing of 20 developers, including Electronic Arts and Gameloft.

We recently got our hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play at Mobile World Congress, and asked: Can the PlayStation Phone really succeed?

O2’s online store also has the HTC Desire S and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc in its Coming Soon section. They’ll both launch at some point in April.
