It’s long been reported that Sony hoped to extend its PlayStation Suite empire, and recently we heard whispers that HTC in particular was interested.
Well, sometimes – sometimes – rumours come true; HTC is now officially signed up. Oh, and Sony has renamed the service PlayStation Mobile.
The news comes out of E3 (you can catch up on the gaming stuff over at Dealspwn), and is backed up with a disappointingly vague press release.
We’ve got the Taiwanese saying: "HTC is focused on delivering innovative mobile experiences for people everywhere and SCE's immersive world of gaming will bring compelling entertainment to HTC One customers across the globe."
Sony adds that it’s “positioned to proliferate” and hopes to “further accelerate the expansion” of PlayStation Certified devices.
However, there’s nothing concrete on the actual gaming front, like, y’know: “Coming soon to PlayStation Mobile: Metal Gear Solid!” That would’ve been nice.
We expect more Android manufacturers will jump on board the PlayStation Mobile train in due course, but for now all we’ve got is a name change and HTC.
