Poor vision Q2: are any smartphones built with poor sight in mind?

Do any smarthpones have a "poor sight" mode? If not, do you think smartphones might be too complicated for people with poor sight?

Depends how poor your vision is. If you can read, a newspaper for example, with reading glasses, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to operate a "normal" smartphone.

Think all android phones do. Settings -> accessibility -> large text
Although whether that's large enough will depend on the handset and how poor I guess.

iOS...double tap screen with 3 fingers, enlarges ANY screen area - including running videos, games, contact lists etc etc. ANY area. Double tap & hold with three to zoom in out and pan...
Sorry fanboys, there is no better OS for that.

Sounds like you'd be doing that rather a lot though

Ah, yeah, true... but it's really improved a lot in iOS 6. In the past the initial zoom factor was gigantic. Now it's helpful while you can still see where on the bloody page you are.

I guess something like an SGS3 or Note might be useful, also.
Everything is pretty big
