Mine isnt great and the O2 signal has gone from full signal on my old sony phone to either no bars or just 1. Not impressed at all

The last Samsung phone I used was the Galaxys (and after that the Galaxy Tab) - both were frustrating in terms of wifi and 3g/gprs antenna performance. Places where my iPhone 4, BBs, Nokias and Htc's had good wifi and/or 3G, the Galaxys just about hung on... The same was true for non-Android Samsungs I used in the past. I had the Jet and various Omnia winmo devices. They all underperformed. They were usable, but on average they seemed to require an extra bar or two... Where I'm typing this right now on a C7 I could not at all use my Galaxy S.

Never had a Samsung, but Desire HD has pretty poor WiFi range compared to BB Bold. I would assume Samsung is even worse?

I have not seen a cell phone to be as good as laptop. Laptop has different power output and antennas size of screen.

Just taken delivery of a Galaxy S2. I have an iphone 4 and Nokia 5800 and have been using WIFI fine on both these devices from my living room. The Samsung barely registers a WIFI service and when it does it regularly drops out. My wife also has a HTC Desire, this gets two bars on WIFI same place...

Not too impressed with that !

I have sent mine back and am waiting for a replacement but I have read about the same problem on quite a few forums and think the replacement phone will be just as bad. Mine couldnt even hold onto the wifi in the hotel we were in last week and my husbands htc had full signal! Not impressed am hoping an update solves the problem,

hi surfbabe did the replacement handset solve the problem or is it still same?

surfbabe10  Jul. 3, 2011 at 07:03

No its just the same, I think its just a problem with all the phones. To be honest I wish I had kept my original phone as the new one seems to have couple of faults!

I love my S2 and have not had an issue with wifi. Did you upgrade the firmware on the phone? I alo downloaded wifi analyzer recently and find that app to be great at identifying issues with overlapping channels and signal strength etc.

I have checked for updates but there dont appear to be any (hope I am doing it right) I have wifi analyzer have compared it with other halfs htc and his consistantly has a higher reading than mine. I do love the phone though I cant put it down, am glad I didnt get the sensation as I previously wanted to as the reviews are nowhere near as good as the galaxy!

wifi is a joke, I will be looking for a refund very soon, do not buy the Galaxy without a solution to this serious flaw

Hi All,
I just got a S2 2 weeks ago and have tried various firmwares, changing AP channels and relocating my access point. But the root problem remains the S2 has serious weak wireless signal at all times.
Right now I have a HTC Desire HD, Atirx and the S2, the other 2 phones have -50db and the S2 has -75 while there sitting next to each other. If anyone finds a solution or reply from Samsung please post it hear, I am so confused how a premium phone has such useless wireless.

Just got the S2, the wifi is terrible 4 yards away with clear line of sight and it goes from 1 bar to 0 every few seconds, even right next to the router it only gets 2 bars.

I just got the new S2 checked the firmware up to date. Also run couple of Android Apps such as WIFI Static and WIFI Rescue and Repair. Tried all the channels on my router. Still WIFI signal is weak compared to my lap top and Iphone 3gs. I do beleive it is a handset issue as I have run comparisons with other phones and the S2 always comes off worst. I do not understand why a fix has not been forthcoming? I will be returning this handset this is a major flaw considering its true surfing potential is only released when using WIFI. Should have taken note of all the bad press this issue has had on the web

The Galaxy SII I set up for a friend was utter crap wifi-reception-wise. Oddly, it worked great as a wifi hotspot. Better giver than taker, it seems.

Not that gsm reception was something to write home about... on average I got 2 bars less than from my E6. Even the Acer Liquid MT I got lying around outperformed the Samsung... Cute but stupid...

Guys I agree! SG2 being the top of line product from Samsung and costing about 2,600 dirhams in UAE ($700)using SG2 for about two months was an extremely disappointing experience for me. It has three(3) major drawbacks:
1) Poor wifi reception which keeps dropping during browsing sessions so its very unreliable.
2) The front and rear cameras don't fully work. In Skype, the front camera works and in yahoo the rear and you can't make both of them work even after downloading a patch from yahoo.
3) And lastly, the battery issue. A fully charged battery usually drains with 3-4 hours max and you need to recharge it.
Finally, when i had to sell it with a 50% loss but happy to be back on iphone4 which has non of the above issues. So guys, please be careful when you shell out such a big chunk of money in making the right choice to buy a product which really works!!!
