What's the most powerful dual-core phone out now?

Is the HTC Sensation XE the most powerful smartphone at the moment?

No, how technical do you want my: CPU, GPU & RAM, rant to be :p?

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 17:38

apple 4s.

lolololololol, joker ;)

Actually, in the GPU department, you're right. In the CPU & RAM department...the 4S, is sadly lacking...

OP, remember, Ghz AREN'T, everything. A higher clock speed doesn't necessarily equal faster performance.

what about the evo3d? or optimus 3d?

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:11

Evo 3D fits in above the original sensation and below the XE, the Optimus 3D fits in somewhere around the 2x/Atrix, AFAIK. Also, there's the Galaxy Note (very soon anyway), that'll top the list. Also there's the Galaxy Nexus (apparently that's what it's going to be called), that'll be, I predict, between the Note and the S2.

where do you recon sharp will come in the list?

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:24

The AQUOS? Well, it uses the same snapdragon CPU with the same Adreno 220 as the Touchpad and both Sensations...so I reckon between the Sensation and the XE as it's clocked at 1.5ghz but will undoubtedly be less refined and polished than HTC's 1.5ghz effort.

what about the lg optimus hd lte phone :p (how low can i go :p)

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:37

That's just an Optimus 2x with LTE I assume? If so, low. Somewhere around the original 2x, if not lower due to the higher resolution screen. What about that quad-core Chinese phone ;)?

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:49

what about the pent-core phone based on kal-el :p

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:55

I didn't know a kal-el phone existed yet :/

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:56

it doesn't i wanted to see if you were on the ball.

you weren't :p

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:58

I was, I knew one didn't exist, hence saying "I didn't know a kal-el phone existed yet :/" :p.

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 19:58

but you doubted yourself :p

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:01

I'm willing to learn something every now and again :p. Anyway, learning about a kal-el phone would be very useful ;).

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:04

i still the legal argument on hotukdeals is going on...

it will be jan before kal-el tbh im still wondering why phones need a pent core processor? you must need 2gb ram or more before that becomes usable?

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:10

So I see. Someone's taken to quoting some govt. website. I don't think they realise what's written in the books and what happens in real life, differs massively, which was my point. Arguing with large corporations, tends to go badly...they have better lawyers than 99.9% of consumers can afford...

Anyway, back on topic :p, Kal-El won't be the best of the next gen processors, the quad core Exynos will be, followed by either the Snapdragon S4 or TI OMAP quad core. You're right, you would need a fu*k load of RAM to make the most of such a powerful processor.

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:13

then the question will become... why??

most pcs have a quadcore i5 or i7 4-6gb of ram and a 1gb gpu in order to play the best games on max... are we really going to see phones hitting that level of power anytime soon...

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:20

Phones at the moment aren't as powerful as they need to be, even my S2 when OC'd (which as far as I know is pretty much the quickest thing without laptop in it's title), lags slightly on very flash heavy sites when flash is on auto-load....

My laptop that I'm typing on now has a 1st Gen i5-460m (I think), 6gb of RAM and a 500gb HDD and that's easily enough for all my computing needs, I see your point, we'll be on hex-core phones within two years at this rate...

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:22

2 years???

it was 2 years ago the hero was top spec and thats a 528mhz

vs the combined total of 2.4ghz for your sammy... next year we will see a pent core kal-el so in 2 years we may have a 7 core phone ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:27

Wasn't the iPhone 3GS 600 and something mhz?? That's over 2 years old now. Still yeah you're right, and if I overclock, I can get 3200mhz, that's incredible innovation in two short years. I genuinely can't give a decent prediction of what mobile tech will be like in two years time...

Treab  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:32

i recon we're at the point of 'slow down' whereby where heading more towards design such as that samsung bendy phone...

600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, PowerVR SGX535 GPU

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 10, 2011 at 20:36

What a beast of a processor, though not as good as my iPhone 3G's, 400 and something mhz processor :p.

I hope they crack quad core, then begin a good few years of battery improvements.
