Pre-order your £600 HTC Flyer now

Pre-order your £600 HTC Flyer now The HTC Flyer is available to pre-order now from Clove Technology. It’s currently listed at £600 (including VAT), though they note: “Official Price To Be Confirmed”. Clove expects the HTC Flyer to be in stock from mid-April.

HTC’s debut tablet is quite a unique little fella. Instead of going down the popular 10in route, it opts for a 7in screen making it comfortable to hold in one hand. Processor-wise, the HTC Flyer rocks 1.5GHz of juice while many of its rivals are 1GHz dual-core affairs. It also comes with an optional stylus.

Semi-confusingly, the HTC Flyer will ship with Gingerbread, and not made-for-tablets Honeycomb, though seemingly there won’t be much difference since HTC Sense is spread on top anyway.

The Taiwanese turned more than a few heads with the HTC Flyer at Mobile World Congress, but the hype seems to have died down somewhat. Indeed, HTC only expects to build 1 million units before August while Apple forecasts 40 million iPad 2 sales this year.

Of course, if the estimated price tag of £600 is correct, that makes the 32GB HTC Flyer almost as expensive as the 64GB iPad 2. We like the look of the HTC Flyer, but we can't help but share the Taiwan-based manufacturer's pessimism.

"comes with an optional stylus" as in: "it doesn't come with it?!" - you need to purchase one for extra dough?

@JanSt: I think it comes with it, but you don't have to use it.

Is anyone else sick of Sense UI? The few things it does right are completely out shadowed by the thins that it does wrong.
