I purchased a second hand iPhone 4. can I unlock it?

Bought an iPhone 4 second hand that is locked to Vodafone. Can it be unlocked or am I gonna be getting a Vodafone sim only contract?

I am not currently on Vodafone but fear I will need to be if I cannot unlock it. So my question is, not being the original owner of original contract/payg account can I still have the network unlocked?

You can use it on Vf, or unlock it...what IS your question? Are YOU NOT on Vodafone? Do you currently NOT have a phone?

Hm, gotcha ;) I think you'll need to ask Vodafone. Or you can jailbreak and unlock that way with UltraSnow... Now, ideally whoever sold you the iPhone should have gotten the unlock from Vodafone. As a non-customer they may not be inclined to help you out.

I dont know about Vodafone but O2 make it very easy to unlock. You get an O2 PAYG SIMCard, add £15 credit to it then do it from their website. The credit comes off and the phone is unlocked. There must be something similar for the other Networks.

Get PAYG SIM on Vodafone, then call and ask for unlock.

Private cell phone resellers (not big names) are able to unlock iPhones. Got 3GS (iOS 5) unlocked in Turkish shop.
