Dearie me. I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, or tip an entire shaker of salt down my throat. Maybe a touch of all three.
A purported iPad mini case has leaked online, and it looks laughable, quite frankly; like a cheap Chinese iPad mini knockoff.
Speaking of Chinese, the iPad mini case pics first appeared on Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo.
There’s next to nothing going on with the rear of the purported iPad mini case, literally just an Apple logo and “iPad” at the bottom.
Of course, that’d suggest there’s no rear camera on the iPad mini. Apple could, in theory, be going down the same road as Amazon and Asus/Google, releasing a truly budget no-frills tablet.
There’s no evidence of the tapering found on the full-size iPad, though that’s not necessarily damning; the iPad mini could have a unique design. Er, "unique" being the operative word.
However, somehow we don’t see the iPad mini (if it even exists) looking like a plain old rectangle from the rear. Apple’s trademark curviness is almost entirely absent.
There’s no writing below where we see “iPad”. Usually we’d expect to find an indication of the internal storage and “Designed by Apple in California. Manufactured in China.”
I guess the iPad mini case could be from a prototype as opposed to a final model, but… nah.
