What will quad-core mean for smartphones?

Will quad-core smartphones perform significantly - or noticably - better than high-end dual-core phones like the Samsung Galaxy S2? Will there be any point in forking out for quad-core at first, when they're in the minority?

Depends what they're like to use, something nobody knows yet.

Quad core on a "Note size" phone I'll be able to talk, take a picture, send it, access a file, attach it and access the internet for a "Cloud file, and not experience lag while continuing to talk.
