Question = What does "redemption" mean in a new phone contract?

I was looking at a deal on a new phone contract for my sister and it says that you get 6 months half price line rental by redemption. What does that mean?

It means you pay the full amount of the contract, then claim back the promotional amount. For example, say it was 12 month at £30 per month, you'd claim back the first 6 months at £15 each month. You have to be very careful with this kind of contract though - make sure you read the small print and follow all instructions to the letter. I'd say if you can find a decent contract without the bother of redemption terms, go for it.

I understand now. It sounds like too much hassle in case something goes wrong. I will keep my options open then.

Whenever I look into that contract gobble-di-gook, I'm glad I'm on pre-pay LOL
