I wish I was at CES...my S2 with all its, erm, tinkering...would easily beat a single core WP7 device in any real life test (not a crappy benchmark designed to favour WP7 devices which is what I suspect the test really is).

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 19:29

one of the losses was...

due

to

the

motorola..

..

The suspense hay...

Day 1

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 19:39

There's the SGS2, then there's a tweaked SGS2...

Exynos 4210 SoC with a 1.6ghz Dual-Core Cortex A9 CPU and a 400mhz Mali 400 GPU paired with 1gb of LPDDR2 RAM. Those specs running CM7.1 with flash turned off in the browser...I'd take my chances against any WP7 device.

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 19:40

I do love it how stuff like HD video loading and browsing have been totally ignored :p.

Oh yeah...WP7 is sh*t at that.

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 19:41

true his phone's facebook app did crash... but still pretty impressive.

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 19:44

The Android FB app is pretty awful, personally I'd have gone for the mobile site bookmarked for pure speed. Then the phone can unleash its power as it's loading via the browser....or would that be "cheating" (despite being faster)?

i doubt it... seems to be a case of however you want to do it... but considering the windows phones dont need a browser i think the point remains

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:27

Meh, 3D gaming, browsing, flash *awkward*, HD content. iOS and 'droid beat WP7 hands down in all of the above.

However hard MS try, WP7 still won't have a market. Techy people realise it's crap as an OS and the HW is over a year out of date and non-techy people won't buy something different from the crowd with the idea that if no-one else is buying it it's probably no good.

As shown by the fact Bada (yeah that OS no-one's heard of) has nigh on twice the market share of WP7 :p.

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:29

plus bada is normally on cheaper devices which helps...

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:40

The Wave 1,2&3 weren't particularly cheap. They weren't £500 top of the range phones but they weren't cheap (I'd say comparable to WP7 devices, now I think about it).

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:44

I dunno the wave 3 was like 250? and considering the internals were around the same as the htc titan its a good deal cheaper...

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:48

They're going for more than that on eBay. Cheapest from the UK is £270, the £290.

I have a soft spot for Bada and the Wave devices, they're different. Apparently they sell well in France, don't know why...

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:55

it matches their (insert french joke here any will do hell heres one 'french' hahaha)

it was initially sold for 250-300 im sure of it... so it holds value better than android..

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 20:59

I think it gets offered free on contract a lot there or something.

Most things hold their value better than Android phone :p. Though keeping the exact same price a few months after release from a private seller on eBay is impressive for any phone. That's iPhone levels of residual value.

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 21:02

ahh the french

http://turtle102.weebly.com/uploads/1/6/4/8/164818/7692483.jpg

but then again it doesn't matter if they try to sell them for the same price it only matters if they manage it ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 21:08

The most recent Wave 3 to be sold on ebay went for £300+P&P, the one before that went for £285. Both used condition. These aren't cheap phones by any means.

Treab  Jan. 11, 2012 at 21:11

you mean any more ;)

you can buy it on amazon for 260-300...

matt101101 / MOD  Jan. 11, 2012 at 21:12

That's a lot considering you can get an LG Optimus 2x for ~£200 brand new.
