Reason for pentile in s3?

I really like the blue s3 anyway.

Its because pentile screens don't use that much power. It allows the battery to last longer. There's always a compromise on these smartphonesm. Htc went non pentile and put a small battery in which led to just about average battery life. Samsung put a pentile screen and larger battery in which in theory should lead to much better battery life.
EDIT: just saw the link in your post. So yeh that is the reason

And it's a good reason too, I managed to smash my digitiser on my GS2 after 11 months and the new screen was a lot better than my old one in terms of contrast etc. Cost £120 though
