Can you get a refund on a phone if you're not happy with it?

Shopping around for a new phone atm. Say I bought something and wasn't happy with the camera for example, could I take the phone back within X days?

If you purchase instore you can only return it if it is faulty.
If buying online you can generally return within 14 days if you change your mind, as long as it is not damaged and no wear and tear. However some companies give you longer, items sold by Amazon can be returned within 30 days.

My friend had an iPhone 4S on contract from O2. Its signal was terrible, so she sent it back and they accepted it.
