HOw reliable are texts/SMS messages? What percentage of texts don't get to the intended recipient?

Only person I know who has a text failure rate like that is my Nan but they are usually in the drafts folder as she's closed phone instead of sending...

I think I read something like 5% somewhere. Personally, I never had issues. Not once.
But then - I have never sent more than 10, 15 texts in a day. Generally, I may not send more than 15 texts in a week.

I'd be very surprised if it was that high.

Although if you don't have the intended recipients phone number I guess it rises sharply...

Yes, I cannot remember the source and the procedure used to determine the failure...
If you group text and some of your contacts are landline/email only, you may blame SMS...

I send loads of texts, I'm positive the failure rate isn't as high as 5%. At 5%, 50 out of every 1000 messages disappear into the ether. I'd get a lot more unhappy people than I currently do claiming I was ignoring them if that was the case.

Yeah, yeah... I have no idea why that number popped into my head :p
