Remove HTC Sense from One x?

I've never used Android before, but sounds like I might want to remove HTC Sense if I get an HTC One X. Is it easy to do?

Totally remove it? Quite complicated and you can kiss your warranty goodbye. Use a faster, lighter launcher but keep the HTC Sense apps? Simply a case of downloading something like LauncherPro or ADW Launcher from the Google Play Store.

Apex launcher is rather nice on ICS.
Will be third party roms that get rid of it eventually won't there?
From what I'd read Sense wasn't bad on the one series though.

I've got a One X, Sense is still bloaty and slow. The stock One X is slower (at both benchmarks and normal everyday stuff) than my OC'd, custom ROM'd S2.

There's a ROM on MoDaCo for the One X which is CM9 based. Everything works apart from wi-fi hotstop (fixable by using the wi-fi tether app instead) and mobile data is slow to initially connect but then works fine. Otherwise, everything else works as it should.

I've sold my One X, prefer the S2. I lost 25 quid after eBay fees, but it put my curiosity to bed.

You obviously didn't see my dirty iPhone 5 comment the other day...

The headphone jack and vibrate are both broken on my S2 (apparently they're a known and linked issue), I think I'm going to flash it back to a standard Samsung ROM, wipe the custom flash counter and send it off to be fixed, as it's staying around for a few more months. Two weeks without it for a perfect phone seems worth it to me :).

YOU WHAT oO A known issue :( thank gawd its got a 24 month warranty hay bro...

and you wont buy an icrap 5. its not coming out... its the iphone 4sr (reject edition)

Agree with pondlife. I used Apex on the HTC One X - it's basically like vanilla ICS on steroids...
Problem for me: I do like a couple of Sense 4 widgets, and they are gone without Sense...

Yeah, the vibration randomly stops working if you use headphones a lot (which I assume is what wore my headphone jack out, too). Yeah, 24 month warranties are a god send, it can go back to Sammy and they can deal with both issues.

I've just read the Samsung warranty, you're meant to have filled in the warranty card at the time of purchase and got a stamp from the shop...luckily, it also says the shop is the place to take it back to, not Samsung, so hopefully O2 will replace it there and then, rather than send it off (well, they'll send it off and sell it on when it comes back, like Microsoft do with Red Ring Xbox 360s).

I registered my phone online... and i have receipt of order from tesco phone shop... so they can't argue ;)

I have considered selling the phone without "noticing" the problems. Envirofone will give me £230.06...I could pocket the cash and wait for something I want to buy. They'll never notice, I may have sold them a phone that the in-call microphone was broken on before...

.... you sicken me :p but what would you get? i had a deal for a galaxy mini for £7 a month if you want it ;)

Booked my baby in to be fixed, Samsung are sending me a pre-paid envelope and their service centre fix it and send it back to me. All I need to do is flash it back to original Samsung software (and reset the flash counter).

matt101101 / MOD  May. 8, 2012 at 22:13

Oh, and since I can get it fixed for free, I'm sticking with the S2. Best phone out there...still.

Treab  May. 8, 2012 at 22:15

So question why did your one x cost you £25?

matt101101 / MOD  May. 8, 2012 at 22:20

eBay fees, mate. When they're taking 10% and PayPal are taking 3.4%, I just couldn't sell it for enough more than I bought it for to quite break even. Oh well, £25 was worth a day of playing around with it to me.

Treab  May. 8, 2012 at 22:21

Did you buy it second hand then?

matt101101 / MOD  May. 8, 2012 at 22:32

I got it off eBay new but unused, sold it as the same. It's in absolutely perfect condition, even the accessories are all still in their sealed plastic bags. The phone even has the screen protector back on it.

I've been paid for it and put the money in my bank (I've had the reverse charge scam pulled on me before, when I left the money in my PayPal account), so it's just a matter of going to the PO tomorrow to send it off.

Not seeing as I had to find the materials to wrap the thing, take it to the PO and pay the PO's extortionate special delivery rates.
