Review of the week

Review of the weekChristmas Eve, dudes, and what could be better than the now obligatory Review of the week all hyperlinked to heck. Think of it as my (slightly) early Christmas present to you. I hope you got me something more thoughtful than socks.

Thanks to the technological wonder that is scheduling (thanks, Word Press), this’ll be the last thing I pen before eating and drinking myself to near-death.

All that remains for me to say is: have a good one, and if you can’t be good, be careful.

Is that what you write out on your Christmas cards?
"Merry Christmas, but not really because you are reading this before Christmas"

So, anyone getting anything phone-y for the X-Mass?

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 24, 2011 at 21:31

Nope, bad time to buy phones, CES and MWC in Q1 2012...

Treab  Dec. 24, 2011 at 21:31

were adults here jan mummy and daddy dont buy us phones anymore ;)

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 24, 2011 at 21:34

We can still buy ourselves things though...nothing wrong with excessive spending at xmas time :p. Doesn't change the fact it's a bad time to buy a phone though.

Treab  Dec. 24, 2011 at 21:35

unless you mean myphonies?

very true its why its good my upgrade is in feb after ces and mwc :D

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 24, 2011 at 21:56

My upgrade happens to fall on the day the SGS3 comes out ;)...

Treab  Dec. 24, 2011 at 22:01

i would laugh if it turns out to be worse than expected and you dont end up buying it :p

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 24, 2011 at 22:06

Then I'll keep the S2 and be happy with saving £500ish ;). I win either way really. To be honest, I won't necessarily buy the S3, it may end up being the HTC flagship or the Motorola flagship, whatever's considered best when they're out. I have no brand loyalty whatsoever. There's also the option of them all being incremental upgrades and just keeping the then officially ICS'd S2.

Treab  Dec. 24, 2011 at 22:08

amen brother. even though i was tempted by the sensation when they offered it to me :( my moment of weakness...

im still temped by the razr even though the screen isnt as good and only has a 12 month warranty over the sammys 2... but it is built better than the sgs2...

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 24, 2011 at 22:24

Brand loyalty is ridiculous, the companies don't care about you, why should you care about them, is my view.

The RAZR looks good, personally I'd still go for the S2 given the choice. I can honestly say that the S2 has no build quality issues.

Mine was bought on the week of release (so early O2 hadn't had chance to SIM lock them yet), and it has no marks on it apart from a scratch on the top right hand corner where I dropped it on the pavement outside my house :(, but it didn't crack the screen or crack any of the plastic, I'm pretty sure the same drop would have killed an iPhone outright.

There's also the warranty to consider, if you go for a RAZR your phone's warranty will only last half the length of your contract :/.

Treab  Dec. 24, 2011 at 22:27

still soga (not soca.. why would the serious organised crimes agency cover me) should cover me... its reasonable to expect the phone to last the length of my contract so the warranty would be meaningless... i would just need to get proof if they demanded it...

matt101101 / MOD  Dec. 24, 2011 at 22:39

Nothing better than a proper warranty though :/. Though you'd have a pretty solid case reasonable expecting your phone to last the length of your contract.

Treab  Dec. 24, 2011 at 23:09

yeah but i will probably get an sgs2 anyway it is the superior machine and its on three ;)

CTPAHHIK  Dec. 24, 2011 at 23:10

If phone does not break in first 90 days (3 month) it's very unlikely it will break afterwards. Unless you break yourself.

You still have brand loyalty to Android.

Other part wanted shoes, no to iPhone 4S. She is happy with appropriating my DHD and leaving me with Xperia Play.
