Can you get rid of the Orange bloatware?
I currently have the Orange Monte Carlo and the only way I can get rid of the orange Monte Carlo is by using another launcher. With this phone, would there be a setting somewhere where you can change to standard gingerbread? Thank you.

Really? That's made my evening a little more interesting. When you say bought, do you mean ordered for delivery in a few days or you went to the shop and therefore have it in your possession right now?

The guy in the video is English . That's the same channel who made the SGS2 teardown video which I followed when I was replacing the headphone jack and vibrate motor in my phone.
This is the actual teardown video of the phone you've bought:

The guy was very careful with it, taking your phone apart doesn't hurt it in any way. That does mean you can't claim the free headphones or apps though .

Thats what you think i might still try lol. but i paid 88 for it... with a plan for 2 t-mobile sims @99p each with £5 credit... meaning total outlay of 90 compared to 110 at mobiles.co.uk

You could have got it as an upgrade from CPW for £89.95 . Why did you buy some PAYG SIMs? Seems a bit random...
Treab Jun. 8, 2012 at 00:24
cause if you dont buy them you have to pay full price for the credit... (this will be my back up phone as im going to crete/australia so rather lose this than my sgs2...)
dont have a payg sim so cant do that upgrade thing... and isnt it 99.95 plus top up? or has it fallen again this week?
matt101101 / MOD Jun. 8, 2012 at 00:29
It's £99.95 plus top up on PAYG, but if you buy it as an O2 PAYG upgrade, it's £89.95 with no mandatory top-up (the phone is still SIM free and unlocked).
Ahh, I get you, so you're not going to take your contract SIM abroad with you? That's actually quite a good idea as then you'll be able to keep track of your spending more easily as you have to pre-pay. When are you going to Oz/Crete?

Crete is september... (sisters wedding) and oz hopefully in january... for a 4 week elective as a part of my nursing course it would be brill.
contracts abroad even in europe would be stupid... totally utterly stupid... sorry i have no sympathy for those pillocks who buy a contract phone go abroad and come back with a 2 grand bill... its not hard to get a payg sim to remove all risk.

you have to be an o2 member for 6 months right? and im not waiting that long plus isnt it 99.95 plus £10 top up otherwise?

I agree with you entirely, people are thick, there's no excuse for that. You did buy MicroSIMs, didn't you?

Yeah, you have to have been a paying O2 PAYG customer for 6 months or longer (which my daughter has...). The upgrade price is £99.95 on other networks and £99.95 + £10 top-up on bog-standard PAYG.

Would be much appreciated, I'm seriously considering getting one for...someone...I'm not quite sure how it's going to be rationalised yet . Oh and, yes, before you ask, I do want it compared to the SGS2, however unfair that may be, as that's what I'm used to everyday
.
Treab Jun. 8, 2012 at 00:56
Well both are locked to t-mobile so it should be a fair comparison tbh i want it for some fun
if its crap its going on ebay so i will let you know if i sell it...
matt101101 / MOD Jun. 8, 2012 at 01:01
Both being locked to T-Mob...that's my kinda definition of a fair comparison haha . It's by no means a crap phone, it's just a case of whether it has the apps I use and whether I could learn to love the Crayola-esque UI of WP.
I may give you a list of my most used apps and see how many the WP marketplace actually has, if that'd be ok with you?
Treab Jun. 8, 2012 at 01:04
yep sure i wont be buying any apps... but i will be trying the free ones
