A recent report by Baird Equity Research suggested that developers were losing interest in BlackBerry 10, leaving a small but loyal clan of devotees.
However, RIM’s Alec Saunders has quickly moved to quash those rumours, and conversely suggests that developers are “amazed” by BlackBerry 10.
The post on the Inside BlackBerry Developer Blog makes for interesting reading, and almost makes it sound like things are going well for RIM. Er, if you ignore all the negative stuff we've been hearing of late.
However, in terms of apps and development, things appear to be going rather well.
Alec tells us:
- the BlackBerry App World vendor base has grown 157% in the past year
- the BlackBerry PlayBook has had 15,000 new apps this year alone
- BlackBerry App World downloads recently reached three billion
With regards to BlackBerry 10 in particular, Alec points out that the BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour is oversubscribed in nearly all 23 cities.
Better still, developers are reportedly “amazed by how easy it is to work with the BlackBerry 10 tools”, and suggest that RIM treats developers better than anyone else in the industry.
Wow, some positive RIM news for once. I kinda like it.
