Rooted and/or unlocked your HTC Sensation XE?

Asking for a confused friend: good way to root and unlock a HTC Sensation XE? There seems to be condradictory info about as to whether the solutions for the "normal" Sensation work.
Thanks :)

I've done some reading for you. According to this thread, yes you can http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329445

And here's a thread on how to do it, if you're so inclined:

As usual all the "it's not my fault if you wreck your phone etc etc...", applies.

Thanks :)
Will check'em out, and as usual - all blame is on you :p

Tbh, I don't see why it wouldn't work, they're basically the same phone, with a different colour body. The processor clock speed and beats audio are simply software controlled, not changes in hardware. The only physical change is the battery capacity, which as you probably know, has absolutely nothing to do with rooting :p.

Everything's always my fault ;)

Agree - though you never know...Acer have 2 Liquid MTs, one just won't root with superoneclick (also got Gingerbread later)

Jan, did you brick Sensation yet?

JanSt / MOD  Nov. 8, 2011 at 16:23

O2 ireland sell the SE Play for €149 LOL I think he wants to go for that - can't blame him. Bad times, and for £110 the Play's okay...

CTPAHHIK  Nov. 8, 2011 at 18:55

Play is very buggy. If he/she coming from iPhone it's a no-no. Another problem would be size of play - it's quite big cause of gamepad.
However, it's more than half price and one of those arguments that impossible to beat.

Apparently the bugs have been ironed out with the 2.3 update...though I can't say how much ironing has been done, since I don't own one. The Play is quite fat but on the other hand, like you say, it's only £150ish which is a lot of phone for your money...

CTPAHHIK  Nov. 9, 2011 at 08:39

Did not really fix much. It ships with 2.3.2 and you can update to 2.3.4. You have force closes and random slowness. Some play specific things do not always work - hit and miss. Battery is good - two days, if you don't play games and rather use it as a phone. There are no ROMs for it - whatever is there is even worse than SE official.
Overall, tt's better than LG and Moto in software, but not as good as HTC or Sammy.

TBH, I wouldn't buy it for €0.00... but he's not me ;)

Treab  Nov. 9, 2011 at 12:28

Wait... hasn't the euro collapsed yet???

i though it was up to 500 euros to the pound?

JanSt / MOD  Nov. 9, 2011 at 13:03

Euro's up :p

CTPAHHIK  Nov. 9, 2011 at 16:08

Not anymore @ 1.1744 right now. :p

JanSt / MOD  Nov. 11, 2011 at 16:48

OMG - he just showed me the Play. It's so rubbish :p
Laggy as heck. The Acer Liquid Mt on Gingerbread feels like better quality, no sh*t!
What were they thinking?

Oh, PS: thread closed. No posting below the

posting posting posting i have jess in the van and feel like annoying you...

CTPAHHIK  Nov. 11, 2011 at 19:36

Yep, Play rubbish. Not much of a phone. Download PC companion and update it to latest. It's easy to root also. There is no need to unlock bootloader as there are no good ROMs for it.
