We're just hours away from Nokia's grand unveiling of its debut Windows Phone 8 offerings, the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920, but rumours have been swirling around about another WP8 device – the Nokia “Zeal”.
The Zeal is said to be a mid-range Apollo handset in typical Nokia unibody style, but with a design style echoing Microsoft's own Zune media player, whatever that means.
The rumour comes to us via The Verge, which stresses there's no expectation for the Zeal to be part of the show later today – in fact it's only pencilled in to launch early next year.
As for the specs, we're looking at a 4.3in display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage plus a microSD slot.
It seems, then, that even on Nokia's more modest WP offerings a big screen size is going to be par for the course. Or so its seems based on the evidence so far.
As for what we'll say later, Nokia boss Stephen Elop has reminded us overnight that the new Nokia Apollo handsets unveiled today will be the first fully working Windows Phone 8 devices anyone has seen (Samsung's Ativ S was previewed at IFA recently, but not shown off on the show floor).
The main event will take place in New York at 3pm UK time, and don't forget a Motorola event follows at the same venue at 7pm.
