It’s no surprise to hear that Samsung is working on a pair of new tablets, being the insanely prolific chaps that they are.
The interesting thing is that the rumoured upcoming 8 and 10in slates are tipped to rock AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) displays, something peeps have been praying for for a while.
They’re saying that the new AMOLED Samsung tablets will go into mass production in early 2014, with one expected to launch alongside the imminent Samsung Galaxy S5.
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5, incidentally, is said to have been brought forward on account of lower-than-expected Galaxy S4 sales, so we could meet the new flagship – and the accompanying AMOLED tablet – as early as next month.
There’s no word on the rest of the Samsung AMOLED tablet spec sheets, but we’re hoping they’ll be at the high end. That being the case, they’ll go head to head with the 7.9in iPad mini Retina and 9.7in iPad Air.
The last time we saw an AMOLED tablet from Samsung was the Galaxy Tab 7.7, which was – funnily enough – widely praised for its display.
