Samsung announces QWERTY-packing Galaxy Pro smartphone

Samsung announces QWERTY-packing Galaxy Pro smartphoneIt's not like there was any kind of shortage of Galaxy-branded smartphones around, but Samsung just can't seem to help itself and has just announced another – the Galaxy Pro.

And while this one has the Galaxy name – and the inevitable Android operating system – in common with its numerous brothers and sisters, it does have one feature that's completely unique – a full QWERTY keyboard.

The new addition to the Galaxy family was announced today at the Samsung SEA Forum in Singapore, and adds some much needed variety to the Android collective out there.

Given the full four-row keyboard, the touchscreen's limited 2.8in size is pretty much par for the course, while the Galaxy Pro's business focus is further underlined by the presence of just a 3-megapixel camera, though it does feature on-board autofocus.

Of more importance is the 800MHz processor – which should prove sufficient for most needs – while HSPA and Wi-Fi are also present and correct. Android 2.2 Froyo does operating system duties.

Network 3 Mobile has already announced it will be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Pro, and helpfully has put up a YouTube video to tell us more.

Well, at least something new about THIS Android. Odd, all the first leaks and prototypes we saw when the Android OS was announced were Qwertys, and yet, Acer's effort aside, we yet have to get our paws on an Android that appeals to the Blackberry and E-Series lovers (aka me).
