Samsung ATIV S gets rapid price cut

Samsung ATIV S gets rapid price cutI know what you’re thinking, and you’re right: The Samsung ATIV S ain’t even out yet, so how the heck can it get a price cut?

What happened is, see, the Samsung ATIV S popped up at an online retailer with - initially - a hefty asking price, but said price has – thank the heavenly father – received a mighty chop.

The Samsung ATIV S was originally unveiled at IFA in Berlin back in August, and is the first Windows Phone 8-based handset from the South Koreans.

Samsung ATIV S price remains a mystery, but etailer Handtec recently took a stab with a whopping £479.99. Goodness gracious.

Thankfully, that’s now been dropped quite significantly. You can pre-order your Samsung ATIV S from Handtec for £431.99 – a saving of nearly £50. We like.

And what do you get for your £431.99? Samsung ATIV S specs include a 4.8in HD Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 8MP rear camera and 1.9MP on the front, NFC (Near Field Communication), and – of course – Windows Phone 8.

Speaking of Windows Phone 8, we’re slightly concerned that we barely know the first thing about it this close to release, though Microsoft has a “Meet Windows Phone 8” event scheduled for October 29.

Handtec reckons you’ll be able to grab the Samsung ATIV S just days later, specifically the first week in November.

Considering the price, you don't get a lot of hardware. I know, I know "WP8 isn't a resource hog like Android" but it doesn't change the fact that hardware X costs Y to make, regardless of the OS.
