Samsung has announced a QWERTY slider version of its ultra-compact C3300 social networking handset.
The Samsung C3500, or the Chat 350 as it will be known in other markets, boasts the same affordable combination of entry-level chat-friendly features as the C3300, but with a compact four-deck physical keyboard that slides out from the side.
It doesn't affect the handset's dimensions overly much looking at it from the front, with the C3500 measuring up at 10cm x 5cm, but the additional hardware for the keyboard means a chunky 16mm thickness, nearly 25% more than other models in the Chat family.
Otherwise, you get the same 2.4in QVGA touchscreen, Bluetooth and 2-megapixel camera. Being a bargain basement offering, there's no 3G, so you'll need to be realistic when thinking about web browsing or media streaming, but with an FM radio and on-board media player which you can feed via the SD card slot, you still have a good few entertainment options on hand.
Beyond the handset itself, Samsung hasn't revealed anything yet about pricing or availability, but given that the C3300 goes for as little as £30 on PAYG, you shouldn't have to save up for too long to get your hands on its QWERTY-packing stablemate.
