Samsung confirms Galaxy R, no UK release?

Samsung confirms Galaxy R, no UK release? We’ve been hearing a lot about the Samsung Galaxy R over the past few weeks. Essentially it’s a slightly more modest Samsung Galaxy S II, and will presumably be more affordable as a result.

Samsung and NVIDIA have teamed up to fire out a press release, confirming that the Galaxy R is coming soon. Well, to certain regions.

The press release notes that the Samsung Galaxy R is already available in Sweden, and promises that it’s “coming soon” to other regions, including North & Eastern Europe, South East & West Asia, Middle East Asia, and China. Hmm, no Western Europe?

Mike Rayfield, general manager of NVIDIA's mobile business, beamed: "Samsung's newest super phone shows off Tegra's multimedia power, and is a great example of what consumers expect from one of the world's top phone makers."

Key specs include a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 “super chip”, a 4.19in Super Clear LCD display, Gingerbread (Android 2.3) doing the OS honours, 720p video capture and 1080p playback, and 8GB of storage.

I'd assume no western Europe as they don't want people to opt for the cheaper alternative rather than buying a full blown Galaxy S2, since this R is as good as the Optimus 2x and Atrix, it's still a beast so people may just get the R as it'll be inevitably cheaper than the S2.
